There is no question that Seaman Stadium has proven that saying to be true. Even the most enthusiastic fan could not have imagined the success that the Okotoks Dawgs have had at the turnstile.

As of July 28, with a few games left to play the Western Major Baseball League has set an attendance record of over 144,000 fans, thatís an average of 640 per game.

The Okotoks Dawgs has also set their own attendance record of 61,189 fans with a final game to be played on July 30. Thatís an average of 2,781 per game. To put it into perspective that is almost 2,000 more fans per game than second place Edmonton. Few professional sports teams could muster up a per capita number anywhere close to that. The Dawgsí first home field playoff game will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3 at 7:05 p.m. Best of five series with Game 4 if needed on Monday at 7:05 p.m. They will be in tough against the top seed Lethbridge Bulls and will need a huge home team crowd to cheer them on.

I donít like getting into politics in my corner but I just have to say I think I am done. It is a sad day to have to admit that we cannot trust our provincial government to do what they promise to do! They promised us a pay freeze for senior management for three years and then after a year snuck through a 7 per cent increase over the next three years for those positions. Even if they had come through and announced they were breaking their word and told us why I would at least have not lost all respect. In politics it is suicide to say one thing and do the opposite. I am betting that a new leader cannot turn this run-a-way train around by the next election.

Hey, I just flipped my calendar over to have a look at August and realized that Monday, August 4th is a Civic Holiday. For those of you who get that day off I hope this great weather holds and you enjoy the day with family and friends.
