There is so much going on this weekend. Christ Church Millarville will hold its annual flower festival. Tea and scones from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and you are invited to join the congregation in the beautiful old church on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. The grounds will be awesome, especially the peony bed, which should be in full magnificence. Mary Dover’s “Brides Walk”, will be finished blooming, but the apples will be forming. It was Mary’s dream and it is her legacy.

Little New York Daze, saluting Longview’s 50th anniversary is on the same weekend. Saturday, July 19 is packed with activities from breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. to the fireworks at 11 p.m.

A lady approached me with the suggestion that my column should be news from Black Diamond and Turner Valley. I do try to include happenings in both our communities from time to time and if anyone would like something special included, please let me know.

Haying is in full swing in my area. Is there anything sweeter than the smell of new mown hay?

We drove out to Sheep River Falls on Sunday. Last years’ devastation is almost invisible. The picnic area is, once again, a delight and the walk up to the falls seems even shorter. We had an awesome day. We tried Sandy McNabb first, only to find there is still no place to picnic.
