Not sure the weather could have co-operated much better than it did during the ten days of the Stampede. It started out with a beautiful sunny day for the parade and ended with a week of mud free rodeos. The Rangeland Derby had consistent days of close to record times as the top eight wagons were extremely close in their cumulated times. Jason Glass won the Aggregate for the second year in a row which got him a new truck, $10,000 cash and a beautiful bronze. Congratulations Jason on a fantastic Stampede.

He also finished in third place in the dash for cash which brought him an additional $15,000 on top of his day money of over $30,000. Sounds great but man they work hard for the reward at the end.

This weekend the Chucks will be performing in High River. Head over to their Rodeo grounds to see the same wagons that participated in the Stampede. The only difference is that you are much closer to the action in High River. Should be a great event this weekend.

This upcoming weekend is also the annual Longview Rodeo. This years event will be a three day event with the Friday Rodeo starting at 6 p.m. Beer Gardens opens at 1 p.m. On Saturday, things get underway at noon with the Beer Gardens and 1 p.m. for the Rodeo. Sunday times are a repeat of the Saturday times. There is nowhere more picturesque to enjoy an outdoor Rodeo than the Rodeo grounds in Longview.

Check out this issue of the Wheel as it is also Bragg Creek Days this weekend. It is their 55th annual and is always a great celebration of country life. The parade starts on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. There will also be a great pancake breakfast before the parade, live entertainment all day plus petting zoo, midway games, carnival, beer gardens and the list goes on. Bring the entire family as there is lots to do and see for everyone. Sunday is their annual fun run which has a 3 km and 10 km track suitable for the family as well.

This is a fun event with an opportunity to bid on the Dawgs players pink team jerseys with all money raised going to the cause. Letís break an attendance record on Sunday.
