At the age of 16 Liv Price is already a veteran of the Alberta Summer Games.
Price will be among more than 40 athletes from Okotoks representing Zone 2 at the 2014 Games to be held in Airdrie on July 24-27.
“I’m nervous, I guess,” says Price. “I try to stay calm.”
As a veteran, Price remembers the experience of competing in the 2012 Games at Lethbridge. “It’s cool.”
Price finished third in the 800m hurdles and fourth in the 200m hurdles at the Lethbridge event.
In Airdrie, Price will be competing in the 300m hurdles and the 400m and 800m races.
Price says she is “training a lot” while also setting goals for herself. “I write them down,” said the shy but cheerful Foothills Composite student.
One goal is to post a time under 46 seconds in the 300m hurdles, which is rapidly becoming her favourite event
“I like hurdles the best, that’s what I like to do,” says Price. “I like the technique, I guess.”
The Airdrie Games will be a family affair for Liv Price. Her father John Price is coaching the football team and her brother Payton Price, 14, will be a member of that team.
