Well, this week we say goodbye to a friend and longtime editor at the Wheel. John has been a rock over the past 15 plus years at the Wheel and his columns have been enjoyed by thousands on a weekly basis. His ability to include his personal life in his writing has a huge readership feeling a part of his ups and downs in life. Well, today he is on an up.

Congratulations John on being elected the new Conservative MP in the Macleod riding.

This is your drop dead last chance to join our new MP and yours truly at the Annual Okotoks Rotary Golf Tournament which will be held on Monday, July 7 at DíArcy Ranch Golf Club.

The first tee give-a-way is worth the price of admission. You will look out of place if you donít come and get yours! As it is last minute call me to confirm your attendance at 403-938-6397. Look forward to a smokinĒ hot day full of sunshine and laughter.

Spent some time visiting guests in the Lions campground on the weekend. Being that I donít like getting dirty I have never been a camper but must admit that is one great facility and the washrooms are as good as being home. Hats off to our local Lions for the great job they do with that facility. It is a tribute to our community.

I see that Roger Brooks, an expert in tourism, community branding etc. is coming to Okotoks on August 28 to speak to landlords, businesses and property owners in the downtown core.

I was fortunate to be involved in one of his presentations in a larger community north of here and must admit I was not only impressed but know that some of his recommendations were done and the City of St. Albert is better because of it. Please sign up to be a part of it at www.okotoksventure.ca

Can you believe itís Calgary Stampede time already! Rain is gone and we are in for 10 days of hot summer weather and plenty of rodeo action. I can hardly wait to watch the chucks again this year. Yahoo!
