The Holy Trinity Academy Knights have booked a pair of tickets to the provincial rugby high school finals this weekend. Their journey started with a trip right through Foothills Composite High School.

The Knights advanced to the boys provincials by beating the Foothills Falcons 15-10 in the South Central Tier 1 rugby final June 3 at the Comp.

The game was tied at 5-5 at halftime on trys by the Knights’ Ben Brown and Foothills’ Ajay Bains, respectively.

Holy Trinity jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the second half when Braeden Bespalko and Brown again worked his way into the try zone.

Foothills would cut the lead to 15-10 on a try by Matt Hunter from five yards out.

The Falcons were working their way down the field late in the game, when HTA was able to get possession and the game was called.

The Knights are the #3-seed going into the Tier 1 provincials this weekend. They will open against the Medicine Hat Mohawks Friday at noon at the Calgary Rugby Union. They will play again at 4 p.m. at the CRU on Friday.

Their final game is at 1 p.m. Saturday.
