Itís time again to recognize some impressive young people who go above and beyond the call of duty to help others.

The 19th annual Leaders of Tomorrow awards is tonight, on April 16.

We have some great young people in this community who are actively involved in local sports teams and organizations.

Leaders of Tomorrow hands out awards in four categories, one for elementary school students, one for junior high students, one for a high school student and a group award, called the Heart of Okotoks, which could be a group of adults or youths.

The award selection committee looks for youths that show dedication and excellence through volunteerism in school, fine arts, athletics or in the community.

Everyone who is nominated will receive a certificate of recognition.

In many ways, this yearís award winners already are leaders in their community and I canít wait to see what they accomplish in their lives.

The Easter Bunny is coming.

The annual Okotoks Easter Egg Hunt is back for another year on April 19 in Kinsmen Park. This yearís event is hosted by the Okotoks Girl Guides Ho Kah Nah unit

I love this event, itís such great fun for kids and parents, too.

Starting at 10 a.m., the hunt is on to find as many eggs as possible. Keep an eye out, there are four large eggs and one golden egg, that can be exchanged for larger chocolate treats. Just remember to bring your own basket for your kids to carry all the eggs they find.

It was great to see so many people come out to this yearís Trade and Lifestyle Show hosted by the Okotoks and District Chamber of Commerce over the weekend, in spite of the snow on Saturday morning.

Itís a good sign the local business community and economy are going in the right direction.

Speaking of the weather, Iím about ready for the snow to quit falling. How Ďbout you?

I know itís Alberta and we should expect a little snow in April. Itís been a long winter and I think Iím ready for spring.
