Date set for Conservative nomination vote

The vote to decide who will represent the Conservative Party in the Macleod riding in this spring’s byelection will be held over three days in the first week of March.

Party members in the riding will vote on March 6, 7 and 8 to select between a group of four potential nominees.

The March 6 will be held in Pincher Creek, the March 7 vote will be held in Claresholm and the March 8 vote will be held in Okotoks. The ballots will be councted after the Okotoks vote.

The party confirmed last week the four names that will appear on the ballot: Springbank businessman Scott Wegner, Blackie-area farmer Phil Rowland, High River resident Melissa Mathieson and John Barlow, Okotoks Western Wheel associate publisher and editor.

The Macleod Electoral District Association will also host forums with all four candidates on Feb. 26, 27 and 28. The Feb. 26 forum will be held in Pincher Creek, the Feb. 27 forum will be held in Claresholm and the Feb. 28 forum will be held in Okotoks. All forums are open to party members and will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

People must be members of the Conservative Party and must have purchares their membership by Feb. 10. People must bring two pieces of ID to vote, with one including a photo.
