RCMP are reminding motorists to lock their vehicles after capturing two youth attempting to steal from parked automobiles in an Okotoks subdivision last month.

Okotoks RCMP responded to a call from a resident who noticed two youth entering vehicles near the Crystal Shores subdivision on Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. and provided a detailed description of the youth.

Upon arriving in the area, RCMP located one youth walking down the street, matched the description provided. Upon questioning, the youth admitted he and a friend were checking unlocked vehicles for spare change.

The RCMP later located the second youth and the local Youth Justice Committee is dealing both with.

Due to a recent rash of crimes involving theft from unlocked vehicles in Okotoks, RCMP are reminding the public to protect their personal property by removing valuables from sight and keeping their vehicles locked.

If you observe suspicious activity contact the RCMP as soon as possible for the best chance of catching those responsible.
