Remember there are two sides to every story

As I pick up my Western Wheel today I am extremely disappointed in an article I have read regarding "Lack of access for service dog".
It is interesting to me that as a local paper you have not chosen to get both sides of a story which involves two children that are suffering from a disability. Both asthma and autism fall under a disability in Alberta.
Were you aware that the child with asthma is also confined to a limited school space since the service dog in the school has increased the severity of her asthma to a point that she is on more than some adults with her steroid medications and rescue inhalers daily. Were you aware that the child with asthma over Christmas has been advised by her physician to not become involved in any Christmas activities that could trigger her asthma as it's at a critical point. This child is now currently isolated with her holidays to stabilize her condition. Were you also aware that this child has not been able to fulfill her goal of allergy shots as they will not even attempt treatment when asthma is not controlled. This young girl's daily anxieties are heightened as she has her heard her physician repeat those words to her mom that yes children do die from acute allergy reactions.
It's so ironic that peanut butter is banned from schools. But as this child's mom says take micro bits of peanut butter and slowly smear it on the walls/floors of the school over time. What happens in a year? The child with severe peanut allergies has a life threatening reaction.
The individuals involved with the service dog are well aware that there is another child involved that suffers from a life threatening allergy to animals with the diagnosis of acute asthma. In addition the family of the asthmatic child have met with the service dog's family and tried to compromise and reach a mutual agreement over the circumstances. They realize that two children are in a difficult situation and want to ensure a positive quality of life for both.
There seems to be some ignorance with different disabilities. Let's learn and work together when there are two families with serious concerns. Please upon writing your next article take into consideration that there are two sides to every story and that the implications have to be considered for both children involved.
