A Calgary man was killed on Highway 22 when a pick-up truck collided head-on with a motorcycle south of Longview last week.
Turner Valley RCMP suspect fatigue was a factor in the accident where it appears a northbound F-350 pick-up truck crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 22 and struck a motorcycle driving southbound.
The accident took place shortly before 5 p.m. on Sept. 5 about 13 km south of Longview.
The 68-year-old driver of the motorcycle died at the scene of the accident.
“I think it was a situation of the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Turner Valley RCMP Sgt. Paulina Larrey-King.
The four occupants of the truck were uninjured but taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Larrey-King said the RCMP will not release the truck driver’s community of residence until the investigation is complete.
She said there were no witnesses to the accident, which remains under investigation.
Neither road conditions nor weather were considered a contributing factor, she said.
