Last week we were moving about in near record temperatures for this time of the year.

There were fire bans in southern Alberta due to the lack of snow cover and the dry windy conditions. Down by Lethbridge the fire department was fighting grass fires.

Well that all changed on Sunday as we received a nice dump of snow and some strong winds to help with the drifting and blizzard conditions. From fighting grass fires to closing major highways due to snow in just a matter of a couple days. The saying, “If you don’t like the weather in southern Alberta wait an hour” really does hold true, eh!

My wife got stuck in our driveway this morning but don’t worry you only need to fight it for a couple more days as it is supposed to be back to plus eight by the weekend.

Need a part time or full time job? Home Depot is holding its own Career Fair in Okotoks on March 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They tell me they are looking for just over 1,000 employees in Alberta.

Congratulations to Cam and Stacey Baker who won our Cutest Couple contest. That was fun and thanks for all who entered online and had their friends and family vote. We hope to have some sort of contest about once a month so watch the Wheel for the next event. All the entries were cute of course in their own unique way.

I am excited to see the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization has launched in Okotoks. With so many youth in our area I am sure the need is there. If you wish more information about the organization please check it out at www.bbbscalgary.com

Don’t forget St. Patrick’s Day is coming up soon on Sunday, March 17.

This Sunday is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night. Yeah, more daylight at the end of the day.
