Dear Editor,

Congratulations on your column concerning children's given names. We have run into this on several occasions and always feel for the child who forever has to repeat/spell out their name when required to identify themselves. There are years in a youth’s life when being different and set apart makes their lives uncomfortable.

Perhaps you have picked up on the recent news article from Iceland where the State is forbidding a 15-year-old girl from using her name. Apparently they have standards to follow when naming a child and names must fit a criteria. In this case the girl is suing the government over the issue if I understood the article correctly. Perhaps this would be considered a Human Rights situation in our country, but it would be interesting to learn the outcome of all this.
