Seven Okotoks cyclists are preparing for a week-long bike trip designed to raise funds for the Canadian Bible Society.

One hundred per cent of donated funds will help provide 29,000 children's bibles and 3,000 portions of scripture to the needy in Kazakhstan (Russian Republic).

The local cyclists are Shannon Robinson, Angel Read, Henry Korthius and Leanne Read of the Okotoks Alliance Church.

Also riding are Elizabeth Murphy, Darrell and Dorcas Booth of the Evangelical Free Church. These local cyclists are part of a larger interdenominational cycling team of 38.

The team begins its trip July 24 in Calgary and will head south through the Crowsnest Pass, up through Radium and back to Calgary on the Trans Canada Highway. The length of the trip is 826 kilometres.

The cyclists are requesting support through financial donations or prayer for safety, energy and encouragement.

Donations can be made on a flat rate basis or per kilometre basis. Donations of $5 or more will be issued a tax-deductible receipt.

For pledge cards or more information call the Canadian Bible Society at 261-4827.

Make cheques payable to Canadian Bible Society and forward to: Okotoks Alliance Church, Box 202 Okotoks, Alberta T0L 1T0; or Evangelical Free Church, Box 308 Okotoks, Alberta T0L 1T0.

Please ensure correct return address.

All the cyclists would like to thank you for all your prayers.
