Peewee Oilers off to provincials

24 March 2010 by Bruce Campbell - Sports Editor No Comments 261 views

The Okotoks Peewee AA Oilers hockey team is headed to provincials in St. Albert as the Zone 5 representatives.

The AA Oilers beat out the Taber Golden Suns and the Foothills Bisons in zone playoffs to earn their berth in the provincials.

The team is in the Jarome Iginla Pool which will see them compete against teams from Red Deer, Sherwood Park, Calgary, and St. Albert.

The competition will be tough for the Oilers who finished fifth in the regular season with a 12-15-3 record. It will be an exciting opportunity for the Peewee AA Oilers as the Peewee Major Provincials will be held at the Servus Centre in St. Albert.

The Peewee AA Oilers lost out to the Foothills Bisons in the third game of a best of three in the South Central Alberta Hockey League playoffs,  but were able to return the favour in the provincial playdowns
