Dawgs bullish in home opener
There were no rainy day blues for the Okotoks Dawgs as they topped the Lethbridge Bulls 9-2 in their home opener at Seaman Stadium on Tuesday.
Although the game was delayed two hours due to rain, the team responded to the challenge and so did Dawgs fans.
More than 2,500 fans braved the rain to cheer on their hometown Dawgs.
Only six innings were completed due to rain, but that was enough to secure the Dawgs’ victory.

Jeff Harkensee had a phenomenal first offensive outing in a Dawgs’ uniform driving in two runs with a double in the first and scoring twice. Rylan Chin and Jon Reed both chipped in at the plate going two for four and scoring one run each.
Winning pitcher was Bruce Amende who pitched six innings, giving up seven hits and twp earned runs.
The Dawgs will square off against the Medicine Hat Mavericks on the road Wednesday. Game time is 7:05 p.m..
The Dawgs have a three-game weekend home stand against the Edmonton Prospects on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday and Saturday’s games start at 7:05 p.m. Sunday is an afternoon affair starting at 2:05 p.m.
The Dawgs have a 3-2 record in the Western Major Baseball League.
