Truck slams into school bus
No children were on a bus that was stuck by an oncoming pick-up truck Monday morning near Priddis.

A damaged school bus rests in the ditch after a collision on Highway 22 on Monday morning. No students were in the Foothills School Division bus at the time of the accident. A pick-up truck lost control on the icy highway and slid into the bus.
Students had already been dropped off to Red Deer Lake School and the bus driver was heading home at the time of the crash.
A pickup truck heading east down a hill and over an icy bridge on Highway 22 near the Priddis Valley Road lost control and began fishtailing. The truck swerved into the oncoming lane, striking the bus and shearing the box of the truck off.
Priddis fire chief Doug Eagleton said firefighters were able to pry open the driver’s side door of the truck open and free the female driver. Eagleton said she was conscious and had a laceration on her head and arm.
Turner Valley and Tsuu Tina Police Services and Foothills EMS also responded to the accident.
She was taken to a Calgary hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The school bus driver received only minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
Foothills School Division secretary-treasurer Drew Chipman said the bus driver did nothing wrong.
“The bus driver dealt with the situation just fine,” Chipman said. “The truck lost control. There is nothing they could do.”
Chipman said the roads on Monday were slick.
“it’s a relief there wasn’t any students on the bus at the time,” he said.
