Woman charged in stabbing granted bail
A judge released a woman charged with stabbing her common-law husband in the chest at their Priddis home in September.
A man who claimed he had fallen on a knife called police to the home. He was taken to hospital and treated for a single stab wound and released after four days.
Police later found out the man’s common-law wife had allegedly stabbed him.
The stabbing suspect was arrested a month later in Fort McMurray and arrested for dangerous driving.
Chantal Lorenz is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday.
Lorenz was originally denied bail by a justice of the peace, but last week she was released.
A judge said she could pay $250 bail or post $500 in assurety.
She will be back in court Jan. 28 for her trial.
