Stamps’ QB pitching for youth

 

Calgary Stampeder quarterback Henry Burris will be slinging softballs, not footballs at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks on May 10.
The benefactors will be boys and girls in the Calgary area.
The third annual Henry Burris All-star weekend will feature a Celebrity Softball game on May 10 in Okotoks.
Fans will have an opportunity to get autographs from their favourite athletes and be entertained by a home run contest while enjoying a ball game at the friendly confines of Seaman Stadium.
Admission is $5 or $20 per family. Proceeds from the event will go towards Big Brothers and Sisters of Calgary and Area.
Boston Marathon
Okotoks was a perfect five-for-five at the 112th Boston Marathon on Monday
All five entrants from Okotoks finished the 26 miles — safely negotiating their way through the Wellesley Scream and across up and over Heartbreak Hill.
Sixty-eight year-old Richard Ellum completed the historic marathon in a time of four hours, 48 minutes and 43 seconds. Boston was the second marathon in Ellum’s 50-odd years of running.
Wayne Gaudet, 51, finished in a time of 3:16:14, a pace of 7:29 minutes per mile.
Jos Brinkhof, 52, came in at 3:27:54, a 7:56 per mile pace.
Jim Cadman, who had to pull out of Boson in his first attempt in 2005, made it this time in 3:39:59.
The lone woman from Okotoks, Marnie Stanton, came in at 3:46:16.
The winning time was from Robert Cheryulot of Kenya in 2:07:46, a lightning fast 4:53 minutes per mile pace.
Dire Tune, from Ethiopia, was the first woman to cross the finish line. Her time was 2:25:25.
Raiders vs. Raiders
All the lacrosse fans at the Centennial Arena will be rooting for the Raiders on May 10.
The Okotoks Junior A Raiders will play their first home game on May 10 when they take on the Okotoks Senior Raiders.
Both Raider teams play in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League. The Raiders organizations are celebrating the event by declaring it Fan Appreciation Night. All fans will get in for free.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
