A foothills safari calling out

The sun is shining, birds are singing and the wildflowers will soon be in full bloom.
As summer quickly approaches, children are getting more energized in anticipation of two months of freedom. Seeking to find entertaining and even educational activities for your child? Look no further, as the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area is now offering four weeks of Nature Safari day camps on the following dates: July 7-11, July 28-Aug 1 and August 11-15 for kids aged 6-8; and July 21-25 for kids aged 9-11.
This summer your child can embark on a wild week full of exploration and discovery. Campers participate in nature investigation and observation through hiking, hands-on activities, games and eco-crafts. Each day of camp has a different theme, whether it is a pond party, endangered species or native history. Special visits by guest naturalists also add to the journey and excitement. An active week with lots of fresh air is not only great for your child’s health; it also makes our camps eligible for a Children’s Fitness Tax Credit.
For children ages 9-11, this is the perfect opportunity to build on what they have been learning at home or in school. It also becomes very important at this age that they get to hang out with their friends during the summer. What better place to do that and make new friendships than at camp, where kids share a fascination in nature. All children should be able to experience camp and Nature Safari camp is affordable for everyone.
Our mission for the camp is to engage children’s questions and curiosity in a safe learning atmosphere. We strive to inspire and expand inquiring minds while helping to build a genuine appreciation for the natural world and our place in it. Memories and friendship from camp can last a lifetime. Please call 931-2042 to register.
The spring/summer season of Conservation Education at the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area is also going to be an exciting one. For adult and family programs, please visit our website at www.crossconservation.org
