18-year-old killed in rollover

Okotoks RCMP believe speed to be a factor in a rollover that killed an 18-year-old Calgary woman on a rural road southwest of Calgary on March 21.
At about 8:55 p.m., a Ford Explorer was traveling south on 96th Street W, just south of 226th Avenue, near Secondary Highway 773.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the vehicle lost control on the gravel road and rolled a number of times. The 18-year-old was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene from her injuries.
Speed is believed to be a factor and some of the vehicle’s occupants were not wearing seatbelts at the time. However, alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Okotoks RCMP Const. Grant Kneller said charges are pending in the incident.
“Of course, the investigation is ongoing, so charges will be considered after the investigation is complete,” he said.
The driver and three other passengers were transported to a Calgary hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
