Laverty - Where is the love?

Foothills club wins first title, advances to provincial final

By Ryan Laverty
Sports editor

I have some questions that need answering and I’m hoping you, the Okotoks sporting community, can help me with that.
Don’t worry, it’s multiple choice, all you need to do is pick one.
1. Why have attendance numbers fallen from more than 1,200 for the Okotoks Junior A Oilers’ home opener, to barely 500 last Saturday night against one of the best teams in Canadian Junior hockey?
a) Tired of the Oilers losing.
b) Had too much TV to watch.
c) Who are the Junior A Oilers?
d) Other.
2. Why are the Okotoks Junior B Bisons getting fewer fans than P. Diddy at a white power rally?
a) Tired of the Bisons blowing teams out.
b) Why go watch Junior B hockey when I can not go watch Junior A hockey?
c) Who are the Junior B Bisons?
d) Other.
3. Why can high school football games fill a sideline with spectators, but Junior hockey is lucky to fill a section?
a) I don’t know any of the Junior hockey players, the high school full back lives next door to me.
b) I’d rather freeze outside than inside.
c) We have Junior hockey in Okotoks?
d) Other.
Anyone who has answers to these questions — be they minor hockey dads, football coaches, Junior hockey executives or anyone else for that matter — drop me an e-mail or give me a call, I could figure out the Caramilk secret before I could this one.
